Whether you’re looking to replace a cast iron hopper in an existing guttering system or they’re part of your requirements for a bigger project, Gutters Online can supply you with everything you need.
Also known as hopper heads or rainwater hoppers, our cast iron hoppers are available in multiple different sizes to suit our wide selection of cast iron gutters.
Ordering Your Cast Iron Hopper Heads
If you’re ordering your hopper heads as part of a full new cast iron drainage system, you will already know the minimum size that you need based on the width of your gutters and cast iron downpipes. If not, you can likely use the previous hopper as a guide.
A hopper should be at least wide enough that any water running along your gutters will be caught by it and drawn down. They taper at the bottom to better feed into your drainpipes.
Unlike the uPVC equivalent, a cast iron rainwater hopper is not designed to blend in to the side of the wall; following tradition, they’re ornate, intended as a good-looking addition to your building. To support this, we supply transit primed cast iron hopper heads and pre-painted cast iron hopper heads, usually in a black semi-gloss finish. (We can offer other colours POA)
Once in place, these hoppers should last a minimum of 75 years with just basic maintenance and can often have an effective lifespan of a century.
Installing Cast Iron Hoppers
We supply hopper heads with pre-made holes which can be fixed to the wall with plastic wall plugs and M5x50mm stainless steel screws (substrate depending).
